REPTILE WEEKEND
Visit Brevard Zoo over Labor Day weekend from September 4-6, and get up close and personal with the Zoo's many reptiles and amphibians. Reptile Weekend showcases the world of herps and identifies the important role these animals play in keeping our planet healthy and balanced. We will open up a new Alligator snapping turtle exhibit in Wild Florida that weekend. In addtion, as part of the three-day event, the Zoo will also showcase its collection of turtles and tortoises inside the Nyami Nyami River Lodge including the impressive African spurred tortoise, Eastern box turtle, Florida box turtle, Gulf Coast box turtle, Keeled Box Turtle, Red-footed tortoise, yellow-footed tortoise, and gopher tortoise. In addition, other turtles and tortoises can be seen in the Wildlife Detective Training Academy in Paws On.
Each day at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., guests can enjoy a special animal encounter with reptiles and birds as well as a daily alligator feeding demo at 3 p.m. This event is free with zoo admission.

Join us September 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for our annual Great Tastes of Suntree event hosted by the Rotary Club of Suntree and Brevard Zoo. This annual food and beer/wine tasting extravaganza is a one-of-a-kind experience where guests can sample food from more than 35 area restaurants and try beer from Florida Beer Company and wine from Viera Wine Cellar. Enjoy live music and visit with some of our fun-loving Zoo animals until dusk. Tickets are $35 at the door on September 11 and $30 in advance. Advance tickets are now on sale at the Zoo ticket booth from 9 to 4, at all Brevard County Regions Banks, and over the phone. BOO AT THE ZOO

The Zoo's infamous family fun, fall event runs a total of eight nights this year, Friday-Sunday, Oct. 15-17 and 22-24, as well as Friday-Saturday, Oct. 29-30. Boo at the Zoo runs each night from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. with last admission at 8 p.m. Activities this year include a haunted trail that is not for the faint of heart and recommended for children 10 and older. This year’s theme is “The Trail of Horrors.” In addition, Zoola will perform nightly on the main stage. Depending on the night, the special variety acts might be magicians, illusionists, jugglers, and more. This year will also feature Ooz Draverb Carnival of Creepy Creatures, a carnival-like play area for the little ones that will include real creatures, music, and bubbles.
The Zoo’s infamous family fun, fall event still features a costume contest, witch’s den, and trick-or-treating at treat stations sponsored by local businesses and organizations. The annual costume contest begins every night at 6:30 p.m. The contests five categories include—ages 2 and under; ages 3 to Kindergarten; grades 1-3, grades 4-6; and family-themed. Prizes will be awarded in each category for first-, second-, and third-place.
Parking will be available onsite at the Zoo for all of Boo at the Zoo. There will be no shuttle service offered this year. Tickets will go on sale September 7, 2010 at Brevard Zoo and any Brevard County PNC Bank. The first weekend, admission will be $8 per person. The second weekend and Oct. 29-30, admission will be $10 per person. Zoo members will receive $1 off on all admission prices. Children under 2 are FREE. The admission price is all-inclusive.

SAFARI UNDER THE STARS
Become a sponsor of the Zoo's annual fundraising gala, Safari Under the Stars. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2011. Look for details in December about next year's event.
